Green Verifier Training Program

Through the National Green Building Program, the National Association of Home Builders is helping its members move the practice of green building into the mainstream. Energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, sustainable or recycled products, and indoor air quality are increasingly incorporated into the everyday process of home building.

Builders are seeking to have their homes certified as meeting either the National Green Building Standard or the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines. In order to facilitate this certification, the NAHB Research Center accredits competent professionals to conduct verification inspections prior to certification of the home. This training program is for those individuals who meet the pre-requisites and other conditions as listed at www.nahbgreen.org. This training program is focused on consistent interpretation of the Standard and the proper procedures for completing and submitting verification reports. This training does not provide training on green building science or residential construction. Persons taking this training are expected to already have this knowledge. After completing this training and passing the test, applicants will need to complete a Verifier Agreement and provide evidence of insurance prior to being fully accredited, listed on the nahbgreen.org website, and authorized to conduct inspections. Applicants have 120 days from this purchase to complete the entire accreditation process including submitting the application, agreement, and insurance documentation. Applicants who do not complete this within 120 days will be required to begin again, including paying the fee.
